Raphael Varane: Some people would like to see Real Madrid lose, but many support us

Raphael Xavier Varane, who was born on 25 April 1993, is a French footballer who plays as a centre-back for Real Madrid and France national team. He is strong and fast on the physical level. Aitor Karanka, the assistant coach of Real Madrid, said about Varane:“It’s obvious that Varane has a good head on his shoulders and will keep improving.”

He received an interview from Diario AS on 20 April 2018. “Although we lost three goals when we played games against Juventus, I don’t feel like I played badly. When we keep our shape in defence, we give our opponents very little space. I’m very happy that I can play a lot and I think I’m contributing significantly to the team.” said Varane.

There is anti-Real Madrid sentiment in Spain. The head coach Zinedine Zidane talked about it. “Anti-Real Madrid sentiment has always existed. But our club owns more and more supporters and the number of fans is increasing every day because Real Madrid is the best club in the world.” Lucas Vázquez said that he knew the fact and some people wanted to see them lose.

About this thing, Varane said:“It’s clear that there are many people who’d really like to see us lose, but they are not in the majority. We’ve been used to dealing with this sort of pressure, and we like it. In face of Bayern Munich, we should keep cool heads, which is the most important thing when we face difficulties.”

He signed a professional contract with Real Madrid in June 2011. In the 2011-12 season Varane helped the club win La Liga; in the 2013-14 season he won Copa del Rey; in 2012 and 2017 the club won Supercopa de España with the aid of Varane. On a personal level, he had a place in the FIFPro World XI 5th team, 4th team and 3rd team.

In order to show his loyalty to Arsenal, Arsenal’s head coach Arsene Wenger, who had previously been questioned and criticized, repeatedly disclosed that he had rejected the invitation of several giant clubs and chose to stay with the Gunners. However, it is reported that he will leave the club at the end of the 2017-18 season. The clubs he has rejected include Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-German and so on.

Real Madrid has totally invited Wenger three times in 2004, 2006 and 2009. Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez first met with Wenger in 2004, and Wenger said that he longed to coach at Real Madrid. “If I am unemployed tomorrow, I will not refuse Real Madrid. I have no intention of leaving Arsenal and I’m very satisfied with and cherish my work. My goal is to develop this club and this team. I feel that I still have something to do for the club.” In 2009, although Wenger was once again invited by Real Madrid, he promised young players of Arsenal that he would stay here. Wenger said at the time:“Real Madrid is a club I like. When I was a kid, I saw that players in white football shirts won victories, and then I was certainly attracted by the club.”
